Workshop “Lifelong learning qualifications”
Workshop “Lifelong learning qualifications: How to consider professional qualifications, including those obtained through non-formal and informal learning, and regulated professions in Ukraine?"
Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, 10 December 2015.
The NQF cannot be a framework for lifelong learning if it is only based on the “educational qualifications” that are issued by the education system. In the development of the NQF in Ukraine Professional Qualifications have always been a topic that has attracted much attention.
The issue of professional qualifications is wider than only introducing competency qualifications that are defined directly from occupational standards, like the NVQs and SVQs in the UK, the professional qualifications in Estonia and the national vocational qualifications in Turkey. However, such qualifications and related independent certification systems for adults are definitely part of the concept. That is why ETF has commissioned a study to explore what qualifications exist or are desired outside current formal system. What gives these qualifications value and how could we ensure that these qualifications could become part of the NQF register?
The main purpose of the seminar is to clarify the mystery around professional qualifications, exploring existing practices in Ukraine as well as experiences from abroad, and try to formulate joint recommendations on which basis they could become part of the NQF in addition to the “educational qualifications” produced by the formal education system.
